Bassist Yolanda Charles began playing soul, funk and reggae aged 15, before starting her professional career with Jimmy Somerville from The Communards, and London bands Raw Stylus and Urban Species. As a session bassist she's worked with some huge names in music, including Paul Weller, Alison Moyet, Jermaine Jackson, Gabrielle, Robbie Williams, BB King, Eric Clapton, Roger Daltry and Van Morrison.
She worked with Mick Jagger on the 'Alfie' film soundtrack and has performed live with Anastasia, Lulu, Heather Small, Natasha Bedingfield, Sinead O'Connor, Daryl Hall and Dave Stewart. She recorded and released her first album in 2003 under the collective name MAMAYO, featuring vocal talents from Carleen Anderson, Shaun Escoffery, Vanessa Freeman and Mandy Lecointe. Yolanda runs her own record label, Groove4Dayz Records, and plays in her funk-fusion band, The Deep MO.
